The country’s competitiveness and defense capability rely significantly on its chip capabilities
KIIP (Chip Center) has been created with the goal of supporting existing and new Estonian companies in entering the European chip industry ecosystem. The Chip Center provides consultation and support services that help companies develop their chip design and manufacturing capabilities. The Chip Center helps promote cooperation between Estonian companies and European academic institutions and chip manufacturers in the network.
- First employees start: Spring 2025.
- Services/team functions launch: September 2025.

Gateway to the chip development platform
The Chip Center has been established to support research-intensive entrepreneurship and to develop the chip sector community in Estonia. Here, important information about international projects and funding opportunities is shared, the latest significant news and events are covered, and connections are created between researchers, companies, and policymakers. In addition, the platform is a place to find contacts and resources that support both scientific and industrial development. The Estonian Chip Technology Competence Center is located at Metrosert.

What are chips?
Chips, also known as integrated circuits, are small semiconductor devices that contain up to trillions of transistors and perform various electronic functions. Without chips, it would be impossible to create modern devices such as computers, smartphones, cars, drones, industrial and medical electronics. As a result of continuous chip development, the growing capability to perform increasingly complex tasks has made chips the engine of development for all modern technology. The versatility of chips and their ability to perform complex tasks make them an inseparable part of modern technology.
